So, today is my birthday and I was looking forward to doing my “go to” karaoke song, “Mister Blue Sky” by Electric Light Orchestra at my birthday party here in Tokyo!
Alas, I had to cancel the party because I got sick and had to quarantine myself and it looks like a lot of you are quarantining yourselves, too. So if you want something to do where we can all collaborate on something, help sing “Mister Blue Sky” with me for another Mission Arcade sing-along.
For those who don’t know how these sing-alongs work, I start with a seed video, like THIS - and people record themselves playing or singing or dancing to the video and send their videos to me so I can edit them together so the finished piece looks like THIS. So without further ado, here’s the seed video of me playing “Mister Blue Sky” on ukulele from my little quarantine room. I could really use some extra harmonies or bass or drums or strings or pans and salt shakers or whatever you all want to add to this. Let’s have fun working together to make something that might make everyone feel good when we’re done. I’m accepting video submissions until April 3!
HOW DO I ADD TO THIS?
Simple! Just shoot a video of yourself singing along with the video above (some people are playing instruments as you can see in our David Bowie: “Space Oddity” video, here: https://youtu.be/XddmigeJfcs ) and just send the video to me so I can edit everyone together into one big sing-along video!
