When we had the Kickstarter campaign for Bitter Melon, one of the backer rewards was that I would write a song about you. Well, a whole pandemic later, the 18 songs are finally done and the album is called FOLX.
On May 23, 2021 the Center for Asian American Media hosted a live performance of the entire album as their Closing Night Party where I performed all 18 songs with the help of Mega Ran, Lex the Lexicon Artist, Owen Otto and Anna Ishida.

Digital Crafts Night is a Bay Area band consisting of three members: Owen Otto, H.P. Mendoza and Jef Cunningham. Their debut video, "Everything is Broken", released in 2010 and was the catalyst for the rest of the album. After six years of various videos and live performances, Digital Crafts Night finally released their album on March 17, 2016.

WINNER - Best Soundtrack, FilmOut 2011
After meeting on the film festival circuit, director David Lewis asked H.P. Mendoza to score his new film, a sex comedy set in the 80's. Mendoza insisted that the film's soundtrack had to sound as if it were curated from a collection of 80's songs. After David Lewis and producer Lewis Tice agreed, Mendoza created 12 different personas/bands and performed the soundtrack for Longhorns. The album won Best Soundtrack at FilmOut 2011, the year of the film's release.
2009
2009
After being likened to They Might Be Giants by Variety Magazine, Stephin Merritt by Filmmaker Magazine and Stephen Sondheim by New York Press, H.P. Mendoza tried something new in 2009 by writing an electronic album almost completely devoid of lyrics (save for 2 specific songs, "Blood in My Eyes" and the titular track, "Elsewhere"). The album is dedicated to his husband and business partner, Mark Del Lima. Two of the album's songs, "State Line" and "Yamanote" have videos that can be found in the ART section of this site.

Nomad, H.P. Mendoza's second album, is a musical memoir recorded in 2006 with a 3D binaural microphone built by Mendoza himself. Unlike his previous album (Everything is Pop, 2004), Nomad takes a slightly more introspective turn as he chronicles his journey back to his hometown of San Francisco from New York. In 2016, The San Francisco Asian Art Museum celebrated Nomad's 10th Anniversary as part of Takeover: H.P. Mendoza with a remastered CD and a Special Edition Book.

Before Colma: The Musical, there was Everything is Pop. Recorded in 2004, Everything is Pop is H.P. Mendoza's first album and features crowd favorites "Hypoglycemic" and the 8-bit geek anthem "In Ten Years" (also found in the ART section of this site).
