ART HISTORY AT A GLANCE
2016, San Francisco Asian Art Museum
2016, San Francisco Asian Art Museum
In 2016, the San Francisco Asian Art Museum launched the Takeover series with H.P. Mendoza, taking over all three floors of the museum with his 3D art, live music and even a location specific video game called Super Museum Hunt. With live performances by Digital Crafts Night, and the casts of Colma: The Musical and Fruit Fly, the Asian Art Museum was transformed into an indoor block party featuring the movies, music and art of H.P. Mendoza.

Relationships through lenses of different colors

H.P Mendoza's Both Eyes Open is a series of videos that displays interracial couples as composites, requiring the viewer to use 3D glasses to decipher the competing imagery and illegible descriptors surrounding them.
The series can be displayed using any screen with anaglyphic glasses. A full color version is available for both active and passive 3D monitors with a VR version on the way.

The 3D Art of H.P. Mendoza
The videos of Digital Crafts Night (all directed and shot by H.P. Mendoza) are all intentionally odd/absurd pieces of storytelling that were meant to be the only form of dissemination for the band's music. When the band reached the point where they had too many song, they acquiesced to releasing an album in 2016. From using multiple touchscreen devices to creating choreography based on children's dance moves, the Digital Crafts Night videos have been displayed at multiple events in the Bay Area and were featured in the Richard Wong film, Yes, We're Open.
The elusive geek art party by H.P. Mendoza.
H.P. Mendoza's secret party has been happening since 2007 and has graced many apartments, houses, hotels, film festivals and museums with its unique brand of nerdiness, retro-nostalgia, amped up energy and old-school San Francisco charm. Along with retro gaming tournaments, karaoke, dancing and live performances by local bands, Mission Arcade has also been home to site specific art installations:
