Hey everybody, it’s H.P. again.

Usually, we do a sing-along after a singer dies (“Hey, let’s do Bowie!” / “Hey, let’s do Leonard Cohen!”) but this is the first time people have asked to do a specific song of mine: “Animated TV Show” (which you can hear/see at this link: https://www.hpmendoza.com/atvs )

In case you haven’t seen our previous videos, here’s a few seconds of each of the sing-alongs we’ve done over the years. What started as karaoke parties in our backyard became concerts in museums and then, through the pandemic, its persisted as an online sing-along activity where I start with a “seed video” and everyone records themselves singing/playing along with my seed video so I can edit them all together for the final “product”.

Ever since November 5, colleagues and friends and family have been asking if I would be interested in leading another sing-along and I was flattered to see that people specifically were asking to do “Animated TV Show”, possibly because I had just performed it live on October 17th. But I think it’s because a lot of people I knew, friends/family/actors/filmmakers/journalists and politicans alike, just wanted to be able to shout a certain phrase together: “We’ll get through this.”

So, here it is. The seed video for “Animated TV Show”. My Ménière’s has been flaring up since the live show last month, so please excuse any pitchy-ness. I won’t get into it here, but I’ve been having a really, really rough year and I take solace in knowing that people feel like they can come to me when they want a respite from their own really, really rough years. It would mean a LOT to me if you joined us. DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6. And the earlier the better! Just send me the videos, however you can, when you’re done!

EXPLAINER VIDEO (JUST IN CASE)

In case you need a hand, here’s the explainer video I made for the last sing-along video (“Mister Blue Sky”) that you can use to help you with this sing-along video!

(edit: people have been asking who those characters are supposed to be; they’re from a super old video I did that got on Good Morning America at the beginning of the pandemic:
