Over the past few weeks while we were finishing the sound mix for my new film, I posted some videos that I hashtagged #TheSecretArtOfHumanFlight. Now, I’m happy to say that the film is in the can and we’re ready to start submitting to film festivals! This is an excerpt of a song called “Fly” that I wrote for my new film, The Secret Art of Human Flight, and while I wanted to post it in celebration of the completion of the new film, I also wanted to post this song for so many of you who are going through a rough time, right now.
Those who have lost someone,
those who have lost a lot recently.
Those who have received difficult news
and those who have to give it.
I’ve been going through it too, and like Jim Croce, Stephin Merritt and The Little Drummer Boy, I often communicate and commiserate better through song.
And with that, The Secret Art of Human Flight is complete! The first film I directed and didn’t write (the screenplay was written by Jesse Orenshein, but all the flashbacks were written by me) and it’s the largest budget I’ve worked with so far. As we get ready to submit the film to festivals, I’ll be heads down on other projects while transitioning away from social media. My social media profiles will soon be turned into “managed pages” but I’ll be posting monthly updates here in the UPDATES section, so feel free to leave me a comment at the end of each post!
